Commonly asked Q’s
Do you travel?
Yes! Travel costs/days can be discussed.
What is your shooting style?
For nature and at home portraits my shoot style is natural and intuitive. I like to flow and let the magic and ideas unfold naturally. To tell the authentic story rather than over-directing. I move between being an observer of natural moments to giving prompts or some directions to bring out those moments - however I lean toward telling the authentic story rather than over directing.
For creative portraits where we’re working on more of a concept or story/characters, this will be different with more planning before-hand. I so love working in this way too!
I shoot using natural light.
What is the best time of day to book my portrait shoot?
If we’re shooting outside, the best light is in the last hour(s) of the day or first thing in the morning at sunrise. Even if it is an overcast day, the quality and softness of light at this time makes for the most beautiful shots. For indoors shoots around 9-10am works well, unless we are trying to capture a specific late afternoon sun nearer the evening.
How long after the shoot will you deliver the photos?
Expect to receive your files anywhere from a few days, to 2 weeks max.
I’ve never had a photoshoot before. How does the process work?
After you’ve contacted me, we’ll talk a bit more about what you’re after through email or a phone call.
When you’re ready we’ll book in a date, I’ll send through a contract for you to sign and the date is booked when you’ve payed your $150 deposit. I’ll send you through a document of some helpful tips to prepare for the shoot, and we’ll arrange a time soon or closer to the date to talk finer details.
The shoot will be a fun, relaxed experience where we’ll get to adventure, chat, and get creative!
After the shoot I’ll send you through a gallery of edited images or you to download in web and print quality.
What if the weathers bad on the day?
We’ll keep an eye leading up to the day, but wont generally postpone unless it’s going to be a really rainy, windy day. I know you may be dreaming of that perfect golden sunset, but an overcast day, or a little rain can make for photos just as beautiful.
Can you do a shoot at short notice or with a fast turnaround?
Depending on my availability, yes, and yes, but please check in before-hand.
Do you deliver raw files?
No – my edit on the images is half of the art, just like someone wouldn’t deliver a half finished painting for someone else to finish.
Can I order prints through you?
Not currently, but I’m working on it!
Do you shoot weddings?
I don’t advertise myself as a wedding photographer but I love to capture connection and am open to shooting weddings. I am especially interested in alternative, smaller, or ‘colourful’ weddings and ceremony.
Do you shoot video?
I have a background in film & tv and video roles. I don’t take on a lot of video work, but talk to me about what you require~
Gift vouchers?
I’m in the process of creating gift vouchers for maternity shoots. Get in contact if you’re after one!
Payment plans?
Yes! I’m happy for you to pay off the amount of your shoot weekly up to the booked date if it helps.
I would love a photoshoot but I’m not really sure what I want/don’t think I’m good in front of a camera.
You don’t need a special occasion or a family to book a photoshoot or co-create some photographic art.
If you don’t know what you want, talk to me, and we’ll get clear :) If you know how you want to feel, or have seen images that have inspired you in the past, that's a great start!
The majority of people I shoot haven’t been or have barely been in front of the camera. A photoshoot can be an empowering experience that can help you see yourself from a new perspective - which in itself is powerful. But we’ll also have fun and create you some beautiful images - I promise!
- I’m here to hold open and non judgmental space for you to express and be yourself.
